I really really enjoy facilitating in the create space. The smaller snug room is great for starting sessions in and setting the scene; the attendee’s feel at ease immediately and we can begin to get in the right frame of mind to be creative! From the first session people were lying on the sofa’s / cushions and coming up with all sorts of brilliant ideas which I don’t think would have happened in a traditional meeting room. The shape of the room is excellent, it feels comfortable and intimate without any sense of awkwardness. The larger space is really useful for activities like process mapping and cause and effect analysis. There is plenty of wall space to capture all output with ease. On a number of occasions I have stuck work up on the walls and asked for comment, it’s really spacious and easy for people to move around the room and contribute. The outputs we are getting from the create sessions are excellent and a few people have spoken about the “magic” of create which I think really speaks about how powerful the design of the space is. The student response to the new LCR has been tremendous. The students take particular delight using the comfy bespoke seating areas. Break times were always busy but there has been an increase in the number of students using the library. Many comments on the resemblance to a ‘proper library’. They feel it has a public library feel to the space and as such they are treating it with care and respect. The colour scheme is both bright and contemporary as is the benching for the computers and the study tables and chairs.

Portsmouth Hospital NHS Trust were successful in securing a significant funding to complete a range of environmental improvements to 4 Medicine for Older People Wards at Queen Alexandra Hospital in 2013/2014. Ken Rand was a company that was identified as local business that would be able to support us with a number of key projects as part of this overall plan. They supported us with an effective design team with a flexible attitude to the type of works required, which included: · Magnificent design and execution for Nurses stations on 2 wards · Stunning treescape design for a movable screen in our new visual stimulation room ‘Memory lane’ · Visually appealing window decals to obscure patient view over ugly building but allow light to enter rooms · With guidance regarding design and size – built mobile nurse desks for all patient bays to enable nurses to be nearer patients when writing up essential documentation but still have good visibility of patients.
